With Valentine’s Day upon us, are you trying to figure out what to give that special person in your life? How about a massage with herbal oil you’ve prepared especially for him or her? Fresh herbs add a level of aroma that can help relax a person’s mind as well as body. Pick an herb such as lavender or mint. You could even combine herbs such as mint and rosemary.

  1. Chop lavender into medium sized pieces. Let set out on a paper towel for at least 2 hours to reduce moisture content.
  2. In a double boiler add your lavender (or herb of your choice). Add your oil. Oil will be clumpy at first. Over low heat, melt oil and stir. Coconut oil has a very low melting point, be careful not to overheat. Oil should never get too hot to touch.
  3. Let this mixture warm for 8-10 hours.
  4. Strain through cheesecloth and let cool. Oil is now ready for use. Store in an airtight container. You may warm the oil slightly before using if desired.
