Every so often, here at Mariposa Farms, we have team building exercises. Now, I’m not talking about jumping jacks and sit-ups. We practice giving direction, listening, and following through. We’ve all have those moments when we thought we heard something one way and it was, in reality, very different than we first thought. Possibly it was the way it was said, or maybe the directions were too vague. By doing activities like this, it makes us more aware of what we need to say and how to say it for tasks to be completed like they should be.
We have come up with T.E.A.M. – Together Everyone Achieves More. We are a team and we all have to work together to get to our end goal for the day, week, month and year. Everyone has a task during the day. It might be to harvest our herbs in the morning or to fill our individual containers or put completed cases into shipping boxes. There are so many steps in between. We have to complete these steps correctly to insure that we keep sending fresh, quality product to our customers.
I have added a short video of one of our exercises. One person hid an object in the room. A coworker is guided, while blindfolded, to that object by the person that hid it. It was interesting to see how different people reacted to both giving and following the directions.
Check back in the future for more photos and videos of the goings on at Mariposa Farms.
