Muffaletta Sandwich

Servings 4 sandwiches


  • 1 10 inch round Italian bread loaf
  • 1 cup olive spread
  • 1/3 lb deli ham
  • 1/3 lb Genoa salami
  • 1/3 lb Mortadella
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

For Olive Spread

  • 1/2 cup green olives drained
  • 1/2 cup black olives drained, pitted
  • 1 stalk celery cut into chunks
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 red bell pepper cut into chunks, seeds removed
  • 2 tbsp capers
  • 1/4 cup olive oil extra virgin
  • 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Mariposa Farms Fresh Oregano chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Mariposa Farms Fresh Basil chopped


Olive Spread

  • Prepare olive spread by chopping olives, capers, celery, red pepper, and garlic in a food processor. Add olive oil, pulse until mixture loosens up. Transfer to a bowl and add herbs and pepper flakes. Stir well. Refrigerate until ready to use.


  • Slice loaf of bread in half. Brush cut side of bread (both pieces) with olive oil or oil from the olive spread. Layer meats and cheeses on bottom section of bread. Layer on olive spread. Put on top section of bread. Cut into quarters.
  • This can be heated in the oven for a few minutes, if desired.
