Blueberry Basil Sorbet
To make this more of an adult treat, try adding 2 tbsp spiced rum to the mixture in the food processor.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 pkgs fresh Mariposa Farms Basil 20 large leaves
- 4 cups blueberries fresh or frozen
- 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Heat water and sugar in small saucepan until sugar is dissolved completely to make a simple syrup. Add basil leaves and allow to infuse together for 15 minutes. Remove the basil leaves.
- Put blueberries and lemon juice into the food processor. Add basil simple syrup evenly over the berries (if frozen berries this will help thaw them). If using frozen berries wait until they are soft to process. Process until smooth.
- Pour into sorbet machine and churn for 10-12 minutes or until sorbet has a smooth consistency without grainy texture when tasted. Transfer to a container and place in the freezer.
- Churning times vary with different machines, too little time will result in a crumbly texture after freezing.
