Drizzle the salmon fillets with olive oil and season with salt, pepper and ground chipotle if desired. Set aside to let the flavor absorb into the fillets.
In a food processor, combine the basil, 1/2 cup olive oil, a garlic glove, lemon juice, 1/4 tsp sea salt and the ground chipotle pepper (if desired). Pulse until finely chopped, then set aside.
Warm the grill and brush the grates with olive oil. Place the salmon fillets on the grill and grill 2-3 minutes per side or until it is done to your liking. Remove from grill and place on a serving plate.
In a small nonstick pan, heat the chipotle basil sauce and pour over the salmon before serving. You can also serve this sauce cold if desired.
